Your step by step guide to creating your online yearbook.

You have been to our website schoolyearbooks.ie and have seen the amazing designs that you can use to create your yearbook. This handy step by step guide will explain the different features of our online creator meaning that even the least computer savvy user can create a beautiful yearbook.

The first thing that I would recommend doing is to plan out your book on paper, something similar to the image below so that you know what page is going to go where. After this you should get all of your information together in one place so that when it comes to putting your book together it will only be a matter of slotting the correct images and text into place. Gather all of your images in folders on your desktop/USB and clearly label them: Gallery, Pupils, Cover, Staff etc. Gather all of the text for your yearbook and have it typed out ready to just copy and paste into the text boxes. (You might decide that you will leave the pupils do their own sections themselves so I will go through how you do this later).

NOW YOU ARE READY TO GET STARTED!

Once you go into our online creator you have two options, to begin creating your yearbook from scratch or to use the quick book designer. I find the quick book designer much more user friendly and straight forward so the following outlines how to use that. The quick book designer allows you to import your desired pages quickly. Tick the boxes of pages you wish to include, and fill in your page amounts. This feature can also calculate the number of pages you require for your students. Don’t worry if you change your mind later – you can add, delete and edit pages once they’re imported.

STEP 1: UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS

Click the button on the top left to upload photographs. You can separate your photographs into galleries such as pupils, school plays, events or trips, making them easy to find and add to your book.

STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR COVER DESIGN

Click this button to choose your cover design. There are currently 20 designs to choose from with more being added all the time!

STEP 3: CHOOSE YOUR PAGE DESIGN

There are currently 18 page designs to choose from.

STEP 4: HOW TO ADD CONTENT

Its as easy as clicking on the text box and pasting in your pre prepared content, or just type away! Be careful to make sure that your text doesn’t run beyond the box outlined. If it does you will have to cut the text down so that it fits inside the box.

Click on the empty photo box and choose from the selection of photos that you have already uploaded.

STEP 5: VIEW AS A BOOK

Go to Menu and help > making your book.

View as a flatplan – Here you can change the order of your pages and see your book as double page spreads.

View as an onscreen flipbook – Flick through your book on screen as if it were the real thing!

STEP 6: DOWNLOAD AND PROOF

Go to Menu and help > more > download cover as pdf / download insides as pdf

Before placing your order download the printable version of your pdf to check everything over. It’s a great idea to get a few pairs of eyes on it as they might spot something that you have missed.

STEP 7: PLACING YOUR ORDER

When you are ready to go simply click on the order button on the top right of your page. Here you can choose your binding type, Confirm that your order is ready to go to print and enter your quantity. Once you click finish your order will come through to us and we will take it from there. It will take 14 working days from your date of submission to make your yearbooks.

SETTING UP YOUR PARENT PAYMENT PORTAL

Take the stress and hassle out of collecting orders as well as payments for your yearbook. Use the Parent Payment Portal to allow both parents and students to go online, order and pay for their yearbooks and we will deliver them to your school. You can find the payment portal in: Menu and help > Ordering > Parent Payment Portal. It takes two minutes to set up and it is so easy to use…

*If you are using your yearbook to raise funds you will receive your cheque with the delivery of your books.

INVITING STUDENTS TO UPLOAD THEIR OWN CONTENT

Go to Menu and help > Invite students to the book

  • Choose pupil deadline date
  • Type in pupils’ names
  • Set profile size
  • Print log-in details for pupils

We create an individual log-in for each pupil. From here they can create their profile and upload photos to a gallery – so you don’t have to!
